PURPOSE:To simply and economically obtain a solid adsorbent for carbon monoxide capable to directly separate the carbon monoxide from a mixed gas by agitating a copper (II) salt, a metallic salt of group VIII and an activated carbon in a solvent and then distilling out the solvent. CONSTITUTION:The aimed adsorbent is obtained by agitating the copper (II) salt, the group VIII metallic salt and the activated carbon in the solvent and then removing the solvent with the method such as pressure reduction or distillation. Copper (II) chloride, copper (II) fluoride, copper (II) bromide, copper sulfate, copper acetate and copper carbonate, etc., are exemplified as the copper salt to be used. Iron (III) chloride, iron (II) chloride chloride, palladium (II) chloride and iron (II) sulfate, etc., are exemplified as the group VIII metallic salt. The above-mentioned adsorbent quickly adsorbs carbon monoxide when it is brought into contact with the 1atm mixed gas at 0-40 deg.C. The adsorbed carbon monoxide is easily desorbed and discharged by elevating the temp. to >=60 deg.C or, reducing the pressure or reducing the partial pressure of the carbon monoxide. |
