PURPOSE:To suppress belt slip, meandering, or the like by constituting an intermediate transfer belt means of a belt base cloth which transfers again a developed image transferred from a carrier, a narrow-width reinforcing material film sheet, and guide ribs facing guide grooves. CONSTITUTION:With respect to an intermediate transfer belt means 4, a reinforcing material film sheet 4b is adhered onto a belt base cloth 4a on the outside of the area where a color image should be formed, and guide ribs 9 are attached to the reinforcing material film sheet 4b correspondingly to guide grooves 10 of a following-up roll 6 and guide grooves formed on a driving roll 5 and a tension roll 8. A material of high rigidity is used as the reinforcing material film sheet 4b to prevent the occurrence of deformation and break of the intermediate transfer belt means 4, and the belt is very stably run. Since the intermediate transfer belt means 4 is stably driven, images of high quality where transfer slip scarcely occurs are obtained.
