PURPOSE:To prevent damage of a rotor even when a mixture with R13B1 or a refrigerant having higher boiling temperature is compressed, in a rotary compressor where a vane contacts against a rotor rotatable in a cylindrical cylinder, by applying nickel-chromium galvanization onto the surface of the rotor. CONSTITUTION:The rotor 4 of a rotary compressor comprising a cylindrical cylinder 5, the rotor 4 arranged rotatably in the cylinder 5 and a vane 7 being held by the cylinder 5 and contactable against the outer circumferential face of the rotor 4 is made of ferrous material 15, and the surface thereof is formed with a nickel-chromium galvanization layer 16. Even when R13B1 refrigerant having advantages of low boiling point and high capacity and a drawback of easy thermal decomposition is employed, the rotor 4 of such rotary compressor is not corroded by decomposed gas of refrigerant, and the abrasion at the sliding portion between the rotor 4 and the vane 7 can be reduced.
