An ion exchanger system for treating liquids such as condensate water comprises, in series, an inlet, a cation filter, a mixed bed filter and an outlet, the cation filter and mixed bed filter being in separate compartments of a reactor, the compartments being separated by a separator plate which is permeable to liquids but which blocks resin material.
