The vessel has separate bow (3) and stern (2) hulls which are fastened together by an overhead longitudinal lattice construction beam (14). The beam is firmly fixed to the stern section but the bow section may be moved so that barges (B) can be positioned and hoisted by lifting and holding gear on the beam. - The barges are positioned so that their hull surfaces are aligned with those of the vessel sections. The bow and stern sections are equipped with ballast tanks so that the loaded vessel can be trimmed and it's draught adjusted. |
