PURPOSE:To form steady flame without giving foul smell to exhaust gas in the transition from start to full operation of a fuel reformer by supplying a part of combustion air to a raw material combustor aud the remainder to a reforming gas combustor. CONSTITUTION:A partition 17 is installed in a combustion air supply passage 14. Flame formed with liquid fuel and combustion air at starting continues to burn until a reformer reches the temperature enough to start reforming by the function of the partition 17 without being disturbed by inactive gas supplied to a burner through an off-gas supply passage 15 from a fuel cell. When inactive gas in the fuel cell is replaced with reformed gas and the reformed gas is supplied to the burner from the off-gas supply passage 15, a switch 18b of an igniter 16 is turned on, and flame is formed with off-gas and combustor air. At that point, even when the supply of liquid fuel is stopped and switches 18a, 18b of the igniter 16 are turned off, steady flame is formed with off-gas and combustion air. |
