PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for heat- resistant polymers inexpensively in easy isolation and in high yield without forming water as a by-product, by reacting 4,4'-(diphenoxycarbonyl)diphenyl by the use of a specific reaction medium under a given temperature condition. CONSTITUTION:4,4'-(Diphenoxycarbonyl)diphenyl is used as a raw material and reacted in the presence of liquid hydrogen fluoride by using preferably 1-1,000mol hydrogen fluoride based on 1mol of the raw material compound at -20-80 deg.C, preferably 0-50 deg.C to give the aimed compound. The raw material is synthesized by reacting 4,4'-diiododiphenyl with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst containing a transition metallic compound. |
