PURPOSE:To improve contact between a positive electrode and a negative electrode placed on both side of a separator and to prevent deterioration in the performance of a battery in a shock test by heightening the periphery and the center of the terminal surface than their intermediate part in a positive or negative terminal plate. CONSTITUTION:A positive mix 5 is inserted together with a positive ring 7 into a positive container 6 and press-molded. An alkali resistant separator 4 and an electrolyte absorber 3 are placed on the positive mix 5. A spacified amount of gelled zinc negative electrode 2 is filled in a terminal plate 1a fitted with an insulating gasket 8, then the terminal plate 1a is inversely inserted into the positive container 6, and the periphery of the terminal plate 1a is fastened at the opening end of the positive container 6 to form a battery. The periphery and the center of the terminal plate 1a are heightened than the their intermediate part so as to recess in a ring state toward the inside of the battery. The active material filling volume in the terminal plate is increased, the contact between the positive electrode and the negative electrode on both sides of the separator is made good, and deterioration in the performance of the battery in a shock test can be prevented. |
