NEW MATERIAL:A spiro[bornane-3,1'-cyclohexanes] shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are that R1 is H and R2 is OH or R1 and R2 are bonded to form ketone). EXAMPLE:Spiro[bornane-3,1'-cyclohexan-2-one]. USE:Perfume having woody fragrance. PREPARATION:Camphor shown by formula II is reacted with a 1,5- dihalogenopentane shown by formula III (X is halogen) in the presence of a base and a proper solvent under heating while stirring to give a compound shown by formula Ia. Then this compound is reduced by a method generally used in reduction of ketones to give a compound shown by formula Ib. Since the compound shown by formula Ia has a little earth-smelling, woody fragrance and slightly SASSICLARY-like amber tone and the compound shown by formula Ib has slight cedar-like woody fragrance, the compounds are widely usable as a compounding material for various perfumes. |
