PURPOSE:To make it possible to retard increase in open circuit voltage attendant on storage by adding titanium dioxide to a positive electrode using cupric oxide as active material. CONSTITUTION:Titanium dioxide is added to a positive electrode using cupric oxide as active material. The preferable content of titanium dioxide is 3-40 wt.% of the positive electrode. By adding titanium dioxide to the positive electrode, competitive discharge reaction of cupric oxide and titanium dioxide is advanced, and the open circuit voltage of a battery shows mixed potential. The voltage of the battery using cupric oxide is 2.2V but that of the battery using titanium dioxide is 1.8-1.9V. Therefore, the open circuit voltage of the battery with mixed active material is lowered. |
