PURPOSE:To control the start/stop of a spindle motor by an existing command given from a higher rank device by stopping the spindle motor of a magnetic disk with a cylinder address which is outside prescriptions and then driving again the spindle motor with a fault releasing signal given from the higher rank device. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder and a head address registers and out-of-prescription address detecting circuits 22 and 24 work in response to an out-of-prescription address or a out-of-prescription head address given from an upper device. Then a stop signal S3 is delivered from a start/stop control circuit 18. A spindle motor 10 of a magnetic disk is stopped with the signal S3, and at the same time a ready signal S1 given to the higher rank device from a sequence control status reporting circuit 20 is turned off with a fault signal S2 turned on respectively. This state is released by a fault resetting signal S4 given from the higher rank device. Then the motor 10 is restarted. In such a way, the start/stop control is carried out for a spindle motor with an existing command of the higher rank device which has no stop command, etc. |
