PURPOSE:To accelerate image processing, by generating a mask signal with either a picture element density mask generating means, a mask information generating means, or a rectangular mask generating means, or with the combination of those means. CONSTITUTION:A picture data input signal is added on the picture element density mask generating means 111. The generating means 111 generates a first mask signal 113 from a bit pattern representing the picture element of the input signal. Also, a coordinate generating means 141 calculates the position of the picture element of the above stated input signal on a picture, and the rectangular mask generating means 151 decides whether the picture element of the above stated input signal exists within a rectangular area designated by a rectangular area setting means 131 by the output of the setting means 131 and that of the coordinate generating means 141, and generates a second mask signal 153. A mask signal selecting means 161 generates a selection mask signal 163, and sends it to a picture element data selecting means 171 as a picture data selecting means. |
