The boot jack according to the invention is characterised in that it comprises a support 1 in which are mounted, with adjustable spacing, the rods 10, 11 of two half-forks 8, 9 moulded out of plastic, the opposing faces of the two half-forks 8, 9 being provided with an upper chamfer 12 and with a lower sharp edge 13, a stirrup-piece 6 made of cut sheet metal and bent with a wide sole 7 being articulated to the said support 1 and being capable of occupying an extended position projecting under the lower face of the said support 1.
