The gap adjacent the tips of the blades (not shown) of a rotor 50 in a turbine type power plant is prevented from increasing, as a result of rotor sag occasioned when an oil damped bearing 48 is utilized, by cantilevered springs 70 connecting the bearing support ring 56 to housing 72.
