The invention relates to a high-speed two-stroke internal combustion engine with crankcase scavenging with at least one cylinder (1) with, in each case, at least one exhaust duct (6) with an exhaust slot and with at least one scavenging duct (5) with a transfer port, the exhaust slot and transfer port being arranged on the inside of the cylinder, in which the exhaust duct (6) is designed so that the engine noise over the entire speed range, even of engines in the higher power and effective mean pressure categories, is reduced with an increase in power output and simultaneous range-related improvement of the fuel consumption.
