The invention relates to a device making it possible to shear the strap of a vehicle. It consists of a cutting blade articulated to a fixture of the said strap. The blade pivots about a pin which is perpendicular to the cutting plane. A removable jaw presses the strap against a fixed part to facilitate slicing. The device may have a slit facilitating insertion of the strap into it. The invention is more particularly intended for vehicles equipped with seat belts. <IMAGE>
