The invention relates to a device making it possible to lock or unlock doors over the entire length of the door frame. It consists of a U-shaped body 1 accommodating a mobile strip 2 which does not extend beyond this body 1. A cam 3 provided with oblong holes and oblique buttonholes thus allows the mobile strip 2 to extend beyond this body 1 and become uncovered. When the user exerts a force on the cam 3, imparting to it a straight-line movement along the oblong holes, the strip 2 is forced to come out over a variable length because of the oblique buttonholes, and overlaps on one face of a door 4, firmly blocking it over the entire length of its door frame 5. The device is in particular intended for apartment entry doors, garage doors, armoured or unarmoured bank doors, etc. <IMAGE>
