The cylinder 1 of this device has a pot-shaped piston 18 which can be shifted to a limited extent relative to the piston rod 5. For this purpose, a pressure ring 25 is arranged displaceably with the piston 18. A plate-spring assembly is provided between the pressure ring 25 and the piston base 26 as a compression-spring arrangement 27. The pressure space 37 in front of the piston 18 can be pressurised with two different pressures. The higher pressure overcomes the restoring force of the compression-spring arrangement 27. When pressurised with the lower pressure, the normal stroke H of the piston 18 is executed. If pressurisation with the higher pressure takes place, the pressure ring 25 can be moved relative to the piston 18 and the piston rod 5 is thereby additionally shifted by the stroke h, so that a transverse pin 13 then engages in an annular groove 31 of the piston rod 5 and fixes this end position of the piston rod 5 on the cylinder housing 2. <IMAGE>
