The invention relates to a house number plate having one or more numbers and letters arranged on a sheet-like element which can be fastened on a wall of a building or on a door. For improved discernability, the numbers and letters comprise a chain of individual light-emitting elements which are lined up in a row and can be connected, individually or together, by an electric control circuit to a power-supply source.
