The displacement pump has a pump chamber (22) formed from two tubular slide components (2,4), one outside the other. Forwards and backwards movements of the components provides a cycle of compression and suction strokes. Inside the pump chamber (22) is arranged a sleeve (6) of soft elastic material e.g. rubber. The sleeve covers the chamber walls and the contact surface between the slides. The sleeve is free along the entire distance between its attachment points (3,5). The sleeve length, in its unactuated state, corresponds to the distance between the attachment points when the slide parts are in their most compressed position. The sleeve is thus subject only to elastic stretching.
