The electro-hydraulic drive of the fan of a vehicle has a pump (13) which is driven by the internal combustion engine (10) and, in the travel mode, supplies pressure medium to the hydraulic motor (17) for the drive of the impeller wheel (18). When the combustion engine is switched off, a coasting control is activated which has an electric motor (22) which drives a small expeller pump (24) which now supplies the hydraulic motor (17) with pressure medium. The electric motor is switched off when the temperature in the coolant circuit (19) is appropriately reduced. At the same time, the water pump (23) of the cooling device is also driven by the electric motor.
