A chair, in particular office chair, has a seat support (4) consisting essentially of a front seat-support part (12) and a rear seat-support part (13) which are interconnected via a pivot pin (20). A seat (5) is supported on the two seat-support parts (12, 13). Attached to the rear seat-support part (13) is a backrest. A longitudinally adjustable energy-storing device (27) is arranged between the two seat-support parts (12, 13). Furthermore, an additional spring (40) with adjustable pretension is arranged between the parts (12, 13). To simplify the design and operation of this additional spring (40), it is constructed as a block of flexible foam and is arranged between a fixed abutment (41), which is separated from the longitudinally adjustable energy-storing device (27), in the one seat-support part (12) and a spring abutment (34) which is pivotably adjustable relative to the other seat-support part (13). This spring abutment (34) is constructed in the manner of an angle lever, the one abutement lever (39) bearing against the spring (40) and the other abutment lever (35) resting, via a downward-projecting adjusting screw (36), against the associated seat-support part (13). <IMAGE> |
