The invention relates to a method of cooling and flushing a milling tool and a milling-tool mounting body suitable for it and is used in the working of stone or stone-like material or metal materials in the building and construction industry and the metal-working industry. The invention is characterised by the pressureless feed of a cooling and flushing medium which, due to the configuration of the milling-tool mounting body with a running mouth and a multiplicity of flow passages arranged concentrically about the axis of the milling-tool mounting body and widening in the direction of the milling tool, is acted upon by pressure as a result of rotation and passes under pressure to the cutting edges of the milling tool, as a result of which adequate cooling during high-capacity milling and during the working of stone or stone-like material and the feeding of an adequate quantity of the cooling and flushing medium binding the removed material particles are achieved.
