PURPOSE:To stabilize characteristics against environmental atmosphere, especially, such as humidity, by using a photocross-linked hydrophilic resin for an undercoat layer between a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:When the hydrophilic resin, such as polyvinyl alcohol, is used for the undercoat, a small amount of a photocross-linking initiator, such as sodium 4,4'-diazidostilbene-2,2'-disulfonate, is added, preferably, in an amount of 10-20wt% of the hydrophilic resin. The conductive substrate is coated with the undercoat and dried, and photocross-linked by irradiation with a mercury lamp, and on this layer, an electric charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer are successively laminated, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be prevented from oxidation, such as discoloration, of the conductive substrate even under high humidity and to be made negligibly small in variance of electrophotographic characteristics, especially, sensitivity and residual potential due to change of humidity. |
