A piston engine, in particular radial piston engine, is provided with a housing, with pistons (6) displaceable in the housing and with a driveshaft (2) mounted in the housing. The driveshaft is provided with an eccentric (3) and with a control journal (4) which has a circumferential pressure groove (10) connected to a pressure medium feed (5), a segment-like pressure supply groove (12) for the pistons, which is connected to the circumferential pressure groove, and a segment-like removal groove (9) which is connected in each case to pressure lines (8), leading to the piston spaces, and to a pressure medium outlet (16) for pressure medium removal. The removal groove (9) opens, via a throttle bore (14), into a flow-off space (15) which is arranged at the end behind the control journal (4) and is connected to the pressure medium outlet (16). <IMAGE>
