The pipe connector with a bayonet joint also incorporates a shut-off valve (12) in one pipe end (10). The valve is controlled by an arm which swings about an axis at right angles to the pipe axis. The pipe end with the valve terminates in a push-pull socket (4) into which the other pipe end (11) is inserted, where connection is assisted by locking balls (9). As the control arm is swung to close the valve, the pipe end (11) is released, allowing sealing elements (16) to be disengaged, and at the same time a hole (14) through the other pipe end is uncovered. This allows trapped air to be released to atmosphere. |
