The pressure regulator contains a PI regulator (15) and a differentiator (13) which determines the change with respect to time of the required value signal (Usoll). If the output signal of the differentiator (13) exceeds a predetermined limit value, then the proportional gain of the regulator is increased (regulator 16), and the integral part of the regulator is deactivated. If the mathematical sign of the control error (U) changes, then the integral part of the regulator (15) is reset to the value zero (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
