Electrical switching installations which are installed outdoors have a coolant supply which is undercooled in normal operation. The installation is provided with a thermally insulating housing (6) which accommodates the coolant supply (4). The entire housing interior, including the electrical apparatuses (1) and the coolant supply (4), is undercooled by an air conditioning installation (5) to a temperature which is below the permissible operating temperature. The air conditioning installation (5) can be disconnected in the emergency mode, with the aid of batteries (2) and accumulators (3).
