摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve accuracy by determining the predicted value of the time for arrival of the measurement point of a material to be rolled at a control stand from the respective change values of the sheet temp. and sheet width determined before said point arrives at the control stand and calculating the required tension to be exerted, then controlling the tension for controlling the sheet width. CONSTITUTION:The width and temp. of the material to be rolled on the inlet side of a hot tandem rolling mill are measured by a sheet width gage 1 and a thermometer 2 at each of the respective points set at intervals of a specified length to the material to be rolled. While the measured values thereof are stored in a memory device 3, the values are successively corrected in real time. The required tension to be exerted is determined by tension calculating device 9 in accordance with the output from the memory device 3 and a looper tension controller 10 is controlled, by which the rolling conditions are optimized. The dimensional accuracy is improved by the above-mentioned method.</p>
