PURPOSE:To provide a chlorine electrode for a zinc-chlorine cell increasing the surface area and preventing self corrosion of zinc electrochemically deposited on a zinc electrode by forming a large number of grooves on the surface of porous graphite. CONSTITUTION:In a chlorine electrode comprising activated porous graphite of a zinc-chlorine cell, a large number of grooves 1 are formed in an upper and lower direction on the surface of a graphite plate. Grooves 2 in addition to grooves 1 are formed in a slanting direction. Depth of a groove is about 0.1- 0.5mm., distance between grooves is about 0.3-3mm.. By using this chlorine electrode, the surface area is increased and voltage efficiency and current efficiency of a zinc-chlorine electrode are improved. |
