A device for promoting defaecation, especially in constipation, has a holder (4) with a hollow end portion (8) which can be contacted with the anus sitting on the lavatory (1) by means of the holder (4), is connected to a vibration generator (12) and provided with a water supply line (4) and has a large number of small water outlet openings on the contact surface (9) such that the latter is coated with a water film. The vibrations transmitted by the end portion to the body have a relaxing effect. The water film prevents friction. <IMAGE>
