A spot-type floating-calliper brake, especially for motor vehicles, has a brake anchor plate (4) which forms a fastening portion (8) extending essentially parallel to a brake disc and two arms (10, 12) which project beyond the rim of the brake disc, and has a frame-like brake housing (6) which surrounds the rim of the brake disc and is mounted on the brake anchor plate via a pin guide in a manner which allows it to be displaced axially and which has an actuating device for pressing two brake linings (20, 22) arranged on both sides of the brake disc and surrounded by the brake housing against the brake disc, one of the brake linings being supportable in the circumferential direction against the arms of the brake anchor plate. In order to achieve a lightweight and nevertheless sufficiently rigid design of the brake, the other brake lining (22, 120) is supported on the brake housing (6, 66, 86, 106, 136) and the brake housing (6, 66, 86, 106, 136) is supported, at least in the circumferential direction, on the arms (10, 12) of the brake anchor plate, and the two arms (10, 12) of the brake anchor plate are connected to one another on the side facing away from the fastening portion (8). <IMAGE>
