<p>An apparatus and a method of adjusting registration wherein the so-called registration adjustment to arrange solid-state image pickup elements (31r, 31g, 31b) used for a solid-state image pickup apparatus at predetermined positions of an optical image pickup system (30) is carried out by picking up an image of a registration adjusting test chart (10) having at least one repetitive pattern in the horizontal and vertical directions to repeat the light and shade portions at a repetitive pitch (τp) maintaining a particular relation with respect to a picture element pitch (τc) of the solid-state image pickup elements (31r, 31g, 31b). Based upon a beat component that stems from a difference between the repetitive pitch (τp) and the picture element pitch (τc) contained in the image outputs obtained from the solid-state image pickup elements (31r, 31g, 31b), deviation of the positions is measured and is adjusted in the 6-axial directions of the solid-state image pickup elements (31r, 31g, 31b).</p> |
