PURPOSE:To maintain the maximum density of each color at a fixed level and to adjust the tone expressiveness of each color so that the color balance can be maintained excellently, by forming a monochroic reference toner picture, reading the reflecting density of the picture, and then, recognizing a picture forming condition in accordance with the read results. CONSTITUTION:An optical sensor 35 is composed of a light emitting and light receiving elements and reads the reflecting density of a monochroic reference toner picture of yellow, magenta, cyan, or black. Of the multicolored toner picture formed on a picture forming body 1, a picture section B is transferred to recording paper P by means of a transfer pole 33 except the reference toner picture C. In other words, the reference toner picture is formed with yellow, magenta, cyan, or black toner at the position C and its reflecting density is read with a density detector using the optical sensor 35. All of the read results are reflected in the picture forming conditions of all colors. Therefore, the color balance can always be maintained at a fixed level. |
