EXAMPLE:3-Hydroxy-7-methyl-6-octenic acid. USE:Useful as an intermediate for synthesizing terpenns such as citronellol, citronellic acid, sulcatol, etc. PREPARATION:A 3-keto acid shown by the formula II (R<1> is H or alkali metal) is reduced with a yeast.
