<p>The invention relates to compounds of formula (I) (I) wherein R1 represents a) cyano; b) a carboxy or esterified carboxy group; , wherein each of Ra and Rb, being the same or different, is hydrogen or unsubstituted C1-C6 alkyl, or Ra and Rb, taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are linked, form a heterocyclic ring, optionally containing a further heteroatom chosen from oxygen, sulphur and nitrogen, and optionally substituted by C1-C6 alkyl or phenyl; d), wherein each of Rc and Rd, being the same or different, is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl unsubstituted or substituted by , wherein Ra and Rb are as defined above, or Rc and Rd, taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are linked, form a heterocyclic ring, optionally containing a further heteroatom chosen from oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur, and optionally substituted by C1-C6 alkyl or phenyl; e) a saturated or unsaturated 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring, bound to the alkyl group or to the benzopyrane system through a carbon-carbon linkage, and containing at least one nitrogen atom and, optionally, a further heteroatom chosen from oxygen, sulphur and nitrogen, which ring is unsubstituted or optionally substituted by C1-C6 alkyl or phenyl; n is zero, 1, 2 or 3; R is hydrogen; hydroxy or amino and may have the same or different values when n is 2 or 3; R2 represents hydrogen; C1-C6 alkyl optionally substituted by hydroxy or by a -OCO-C1-C6 alkyl group; or an optionally substituted phenyl group each of R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8, which may be the same or different, is selected from a") hydrogen; halogen; halo C1-C6 alkyl; or C1-C6 alkyl optionally substituted by amino; b") amino; nitro; or , wherein Ra and Rb are as defined above; c") -OR9, wherein R9 is hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl or C2-C6 alkenyl; or a pharmaceutically or veterinarily acceptable salt thereof.
