PURPOSE:To surely input and set a black and white density without errors by providing a density sensor part detecting an original density and a density deciding circuit part as well as a coordinate sensor part instructing coordinates on a digitizer. CONSTITUTION:After an operator specifies the 'white density' of a data setting part 5, he designates a point W that he wants to use as the white reference of an input original 6. The sensor part 4A leads light from a lamp 13 through a lens 14 within the density range of the point W on the original, condenses light reflected from the original by a lens 15, projects the light on a light receiving element 16 photoelectrically converting light, photoelectrically transfers density information on the point W, leads it to the density deciding circuit part 17, and inputs and sets the white reference density. After the sensor part 4A designates the 'black density' of the data setting part 5, it specifies a point B used as the black reference of the input original 6. Then the density at the point B is detected, inputted and set. Thus the operator uses the sensor part 4A to designate the points W and B on the original in the same manner as to designate coordinates, whereby he can input and set density information on black, and white parts at his desired points on the original.
