PURPOSE:To minimize the effects of a fault and to decide accurately the factor of the fault by recording the information with which the factor of the fault can be known in terms of the change with the lapse of time and at the same time detecting said information to carry out a protecting action. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk device 1 and a recorder part 2 which records the information on the factor of a fault of the device 1 are connected to a control part 3 connected to the channel of a CPU. Under such conditions, the information with which the factor of the device 1 is known in terms of the change with the lapse of time is recorded to the part 2. Thus the part 3 detects a fault if occurs and can perform a protecting action to allocate a substitute device for the device 1. In such a way, the factor of the fault is known more clearly and can be decided more accurately.
