PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an optical filter, to reduce the size of a device, and to remove characteristic deterioration by applying different voltages between electrodes and finding spectral sensitivity characteristics which have peaks in wavelength bands of green, red, and blue. CONSTITUTION:A laminate body 6 is made of an amorphous semiconductor with PIN structure so that front-stage and rear-stage amorphous photoelectric sensors 4 and 5 which have peaks to blue light and red light are laminated into P-N junction. Then a couple of electrodes 3 and 7 of a sensor 1 that one of them is transparent are provided to both ends. A bias circuit means 10 applies one of three kinds of preset bias voltages between the couple of electrodes 3 and 7 of the sensor 1 constituted as mentioned above. Further, a synchronizing circuit means 11 generates a synchronizing signal for selecting three kinds of reverse bias voltages to be applied successively. Then a photocurrent detecting means 12 detects photocurrents corresponding to the bias voltages and a color discriminating means 13 decides the color of light incident on the sensor 1 on the basis of the detected photocurrents.
