PURPOSE:To reduce the temperature rising values of a rotor and a stator by providing a platelike ring on the inner periphery of the supporting frame of a stator back surface side vent passage at exhaust side to form a boxlike structure. CONSTITUTION:A rotational shaft 2 is supported through bearings 3 of end brackets 10a, 10b, and a rotor core 8 is attached thereto. A stator core 5 is supported to a supporting frame 6. A cooling fan 9 is mounted at the opposite load side of a sheath 1. A platelike ring 12 having a predetermined width is formed on the inner periphery of the frame 6 of a stator back surface side vent passage 11 at exhaust side, and a boxlike structure made of the ring 12, the exhaust side end bracket 10b, the exhaust side supporting frame 6 and the sheath 1 is formed. Thus, cooling air passing the passage 11 is reduced, and cooling air passing an air gap 7 and a duct 8a is increased. Thus the temperature rising values of a rotor and a stator are reduced.
