PURPOSE:To make the apparatus compact and reduce cost by providing a single drive roller capable of the functions of a separation paper feeder roller and a laten roller. CONSTITUTION:If a drive roller 50 rotates in an arrow P direction, the uppermost sheet 3 a of piled sheets 3 is pulled out of a paper tray 2, and fed into between paper guides 5a and 5b. If the tip of the sheet 3a reaches the lower area of a heating element 4a in a thermal recording head 4, a drive roller 40 shifts upward from a paper feed action position to occupy a processing action position. At that time, the drive roller 50 is energized upward by means of a tension spring 106. Then, the thermal element 4a, an ink ribbon 8 and the sheet 3a are allowed to stick together and pressed between a thermal recording head 4 and the drive roller 50. After this, the ink ribbon 8 is caused to move in an arrow q direction at the same speed as the drive roller 50 to transport the sheet 3a. At the same time, the heating element 4a is thermally energized selectively in accordance with an image signal. Consequently, ink of the ink ribbon 8 is thermally transferred to the sheet 3a and an image is formed on the sheet 3a. |
