PURPOSE:To obtain easily a polyphosphazene having useful characteristics in the fields of medical treatments, electrical components, etc., according to the type of substituents, by reacting a specified polyphosphazene with an alkali metal salt of an alcohol having an oligoalkyleneoxy chain. CONSTITUTION:A polydichlorophosphazene (a), obtd. by polymerizing a cyclic or linear low-molecular chlorophosphazene in a system contg. no water by heating, is reacted with an alkali metal alkoxide (b) to obtain a stable polyphosphazene (A) mainly composed of repeating units of formula I [wherein R1 and R2 are each an aliph. group such as a (halogen-substd.) 1-10C linear satd. hydrocarbon group, etc.]. The component A is reacted with an alkali metal salt of an alcohol (B) having an oligoalkyleneoxy chain (e.g., a chain of formula V), represented by formula II [wherein R3 is a group of formula III (wherein one of R5 and R6 is H and the other is H) and/or a group of formula IV (wherein m is 2-4); n is 1-10; M is an alkali metal; and R4 is a 1-7C org. group] in the presence of a solvent (C) such as an aprotic polar solvent to substitute part or the whole of R1 and/or R2 groups of the component A by the chain of formula V. |
