PURPOSE:To eliminate the deformation of a honeycomb core body at the time of the preparation thereof and to facilitate processing, by forming a corrugated foil and a flat foil from a foil composed of a rolled material of stainless steel and superposing both of them to wind the same into a cylindrical form. CONSTITUTION:The honeycomb core body 2 inserted in a cylindrical outer cylinder 1 to become the exhaust gas purifying device of a car is formed by superposing a corrugated foil 3, which is formed by molding a thin stainless steel foil into a corrugated shape, and a plate-shaped foil 4 composed of said stainless steel foil and winding both of them into an almost cylindrical form. The stainless steel foil used in the corrugated foil 3 and the plate-shaped foil 4 is composed of, for example, a rolled material obtained by rolling ferrite type stainless steel containing aluminum but applying no heat-treatment after rolling. A solder material layer can be allowed to cover the entire surface of the stainless steel foil and a catalytic substance for purifying exhaust gas such as platinum is applied to the surfaces of both foils 3, 4 of the honeycomb core body 2 being obtained. |
