PURPOSE:To adapt the title ion exchange body to column operation, by preparing an ion exchange body used in the concn. and separation of a metal ion such as a lithium ion by internally supporting a fine particulate or crystalline inorg. ion exchange body by a hydrophilic high-molecular compound. CONSTITUTION:A fine particulate or crystalline inorg. ion exchange body selective to various metal ions is supported by a spherical particle or membrane of a hydrophilic crosslinked polymer becoming a hydrophilic gel by a method wherein an aqueous monomer solution containing the inorg. ion exchange body and a crosslinking agent is polymerized in an org. solvent having proper viscosity in a state dispersed in a liquid droplet form. Since the ion exchange body obtained shows extremely high selectivity to a specific ion according to the kind of the inorg. ion exchange body supported thereby and can be formed into spherical particles with a particle size of 50-100 mesh, said ion exchange body can be applied to a large-scaled column operation. |
