PURPOSE:To achieve the enhancement in response by carrying out corrections in response to accelerator pedal operating positions just before and immediately after acceleration nd the operating variables just before acceleration, when the throttle valve opening is controlled to a target opening in response to the operating position of accelerator pedal. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of the detected signal from an accelerator pedal operating position detecting means 1 which detects the operating position of accelerator pedal being operated by a driver, a target throttle valve opening generating means 2 generates a target throttle valve opening in accordance with a predetermined function. A throttle valve control means 3 controls the throttle valve via a servomotor on the basis of the signal from the target throttle valve opening generating means 2. When the accelerator pedal is trodden down, a correction means 4 outputs a correction signal to attain the throttle valve opening corresponding to the acceleration request in response to the operating positions just before and immediately after the treading and the operating variables of the engine just before the treading.
