<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a good image by impressing a voltage to a transparent common electrode via a voltage impressing electrode. CONSTITUTION:The voltage of the transparent common electrode 37 is kept maintained at a specified potential at all times and the potential of transparent picture element electrodes 31 is set at the potential which is either of the display potential or non-display potential. A liquid crystal layer 43 is oriented in the direction where light is passed in the part of the electrodes 31 when said electrodes are set at the display potential. The light of a prescribed component is thereby radiated through corresponding color filters 35 to the other main plane side of the 2nd substrate 41 and the image is displayed. The potential of the electrodes 31 is set by a holding circuit 47 via a gate line Xi and TFT32.</p> |
