PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and sharpness of the titled emulsion, and to prevent deterioration of image quality by incorporating a tabular grain which is composed of AgBrI or AgBrICl and has a multilayer structure contg. a specific amount of AgI into the core and the shell of the outermost layer of said structure. CONSTITUTION:The emulsion is composed of the tabular grain which is composed of AgBrI or AgBrICl and has the multilayer structure composed of the core and one or more layers of the shell having >=60% total projection area of the silver halide particle. And, the content of AgI contd. in the core of the grain is from 7mol% to solid solution limit, and the content of AgI contd. in the shell of the outermost layer is 0-6%, and the content of AgCl contd. in the shell is preferably 0-40mol%. In case that the projection area of said grain is <60%, or the content of AgI contd. in the core is <7mol%, the excellent photographic performance is not obtd. In case that the content of AgI exceeds the solid solution limit, as the pure AgI grain forms separately, it is not preferable. And, in case that the content of AgI contd. in the shell is >6mol%, it is disadvantage in the efficiency of the charge separation of electrons and a positive holes, etc. |
