PURPOSE:To easily realize dropout compensation with respect to chrominance information by converting a reproduced chrominance carrier signal into a color difference signal whose information is hardly affected due to phase changes. CONSTITUTION:A chrominance carrier signal is converted into color difference signals (R-Y, B-Y) at a color difference signal demodulation circuit 16 receiving a reference signal fc from a reference signal generator 14 and fed respectively to 1H delay circuits 17a, 17b and chageover switches 18a, 18b. While a dropout takes place, the switch 18 is connected to the position H while a supplied switch changeover pulse is at high level in the figure, the color difference signal retarded by one H by 1H delay circuits 17a, 17b fed to a chrominance carrier signal modulation circuit 19 via the changeover switches 18a, 18b and the color difference signal during the generation of dropout is interpolated and fed to the chrominance signal modulation circuit 19.
