PURPOSE:To display a high definition screen with full gradations by increasing the numbers of gradations and of picture elements based on the data of the small numbers of picture elements consisting of the small numbers of gradations. CONSTITUTION:When a compressor DCM 4 compresses and transmits image data, a gradation number increasing unit GEX 9 on a receiving side converts the image data to artificial multi-gradation data, and finally a picture element number increasing unit PEX 10 outputs the image data to a display DSP 12 by associating one input picture element with plural output picture elements. The gradation number increasing unit PEX 9 and the picture element number increasing unit 10 consist of a 3X3 register 20 which sequentially fetches a noticed picture element C and eight picture elements around it, a computer element 21 which calculates data made of four picture elements UL, UR, DL and DR from the noticed picture element C and picture elements U, D, L and R in the all directions of it, and a 2X2 register 22 which temporarily stores the formed data of four picture elements. |
