PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer having excellent heat resistance, by polymerizing 2-[cyclohexen-(3)-yl]bicyclo[2,2,1]heptene-(5) in the presence of a specified catalyst. CONSTITUTION:2-[cyclohexen-(3)-yl]bicyclo[2,2,1]heptene-(5) or a mixture thereof with at least one methathesis-polymerizable monomer is polymerized in the presence of a methathesis polymn. catalyst to obtain the desired polymer. When the polymer is molded by heating, the remaining double bonds undergo a crosslinking reaction, etc., so that it can be often insufficiently molded. Thus, it is desirable that a polymer molding is prepd. in one step by bulk polymn. in such a manner that the liquid monomer is put into a mold and the polymn. and the molding are simultaneously carried out. |
